The ceremony took place at the Renata Tebaldi Museum Foundation and had a double purpose: in addition to rewarding the talent of artists committed to music, it served as an initiative to raise funds for the conservation of the Fidenza Cathedral.

The Arpa d’Or Award is a cultural project inspired by the figure of Giuseppe Verdi and seeks to remember the composer’s legacy through the great voices that interpreted his works, such as Carlo Bergonzi and Renata Tebaldi, who gave life to his melodramas around the world.

The name of the award is inspired by the harp, described by the organization as a “sublime and magical” instrument, which symbolizes the instrument of the fateful prophets that Verdi describes in the piece Nabucco, being the ones who “rekindle the memory of our history.” , carrying it forward with passion and determination, optimism and courage.

From Guatemala to Italy and beyond

Ana Isabel Lazo is a Guatemalan soprano who has made Italy her home for several years. Her career as a soprano has spanned an opera repertoire that includes works by Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, and WA Mozart, among others. She began her training in Guatemala and later moved to Italy, where she was part of the Puccini Festival Academy and trained at the Arrigo Boito Conservatory in Parma, under the tutelage of soprano Lucetta Bizzi.

The Guatemalan has taken her talent to international stages, with performances in the United States, Germany, Bulgaria, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and China. In 2019 she made a historic debut by being the first Western singer to perform a role in a Chinese opera, in 170 days in Nanjing, the diary of John Rabe.
