Saudi Arabia announced, “the execution of the death sentence against an expatriate holding Syrian nationality, in the Al-Jawf region, for smuggling drugs into the Kingdom.”
The Saudi Ministry of Interior explained in a statement: “Ghassan Ali Madawi – a Syrian national – smuggled amphetamine tablets into the Kingdom, and the security authorities were able to arrest the aforementioned perpetrator, and the investigation with him resulted in him being accused of committing the crime, referring him to the competent court, and was sentenced to death. A ruling ruled to confirm what was attributed to him and kill him as a punishment. The ruling became final after it was appealed and then upheld by the Supreme Court, and a royal order was issued to enforce what was decided according to Sharia law.
The statement added: “The sentence of murder was carried out as a form of punishment against the perpetrator on Thursday 4/14/1446 AH corresponding to 10/17/2024 AD in the Al-Jawf region.”
The Ministry of Interior affirmed, “The government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is keen to protect the security of citizens and residents from the scourge of drugs, and to impose the harshest penalties prescribed by law against their smugglers and dealers, due to the loss of innocent lives they cause, serious corruption among young people, the individual, and society, and a violation of their rights,” warning at the same time. “Anyone who does this will face legal punishment.”
