As part of the project “Our Musical Identity” (Musiqi kimliyimiz), events dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the prominent musician Ashug Molla Juma (1855-1920) are being held in Ganja. The project is being implemented by the Ganja State Philharmonic named after Fikret Amirov and the Union of Ashugs of Azerbaijan with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan and the Executive Power of Ganja, the press service of the Philharmonic told Day.Az.

As part of the events, a concert was held with the participation of teachers and students of the Children’s Music School No. 3 named after Bulbul and the Ganja Children’s Art School. The compositions “Pərim”, “Bərəkət var ayağında”, folk songs and ashug motifs were performed.

It should be noted that within the framework of the “Musiqi kimliyimiz” project, evenings dedicated to ashug art and epics with a long history are presented. Ashug art, which is the basis of national folk art, is included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The goal of the project is to promote national values ​​among young people and present the ancient heritage to the general public. Previously, events dedicated to Ashug Alesker and Ashug Shamshir were organized.
