As part of the consolidation and promotion of economic ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the People’s Republic of China, this meeting highlights the strategic importance that the two countries attach to their bilateral collaboration.

On this occasion, Mr. Mezzour underlined that the cooperation between the two countries, which aims to be rich, diversified and fruitful, is experiencing significant dynamics marked by the launch of several new multi-sector projects, particularly in the fields of industry and infrastructure. .

In this wake, he noted that trade between the two countries increased by more than 50%, positioning China as the Kingdom’s 3rd trading partner and its first partner in Asia, with an overall trade volume of 7.6 billion. dollars in 2022.

Likewise, Chinese investments in Morocco which capitalized, in 2022, an amount of more than 56 million dollars, mainly relate to the sectors of industry, major works, transport, real estate, energy and mining, with a share of 52% for industry, he continued.

With a view to exploiting the potential offered, the minister indicated that “future action must be more part of an innovative, coordinated, more effective and more impactful approach to translate into reality the objectives of the bilateral strategic partnership sealed between both countries in 2016.

In this regard, he highlighted the significant opportunities that the two economies offer in terms of synergy, citing in this regard the great potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area which would make it possible to develop Moroccan and Chinese exports towards new and promising markets in Africa.

Thus, the minister called for strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the authorities of the two countries with a view to fully exploiting the potential of the strategic partnership for the achievement of common objectives.

For his part, Mr. Wang stressed that Morocco and China have complementary development assets, paving the way for a strengthening of their bilateral cooperation, adding that Morocco has become a preferred destination for Chinese companies.

“These Chinese companies are able to bring significant added value to Morocco’s economic development by complying with local regulations and exploiting their own technological and development assets,” he said.

In addition, Mr. Wang reiterated his commitment to promoting cooperative relations between the two countries, highlighting mutual opportunities for economic and commercial development as well as the driving force that Morocco represents for the development of Chinese businesses.
