Lance Klusener Returns as Zimbabwe Batting Coach, again King of South African Action

Former South African all-rounder Lance Klusner has rejoined the Zimbabwe national team as batting coach.

His appointment was confirmed during the Zimbabwe Cricket Board meeting yesterday. Similarly, it has been announced that Craig Erwin will be the ODI and T20 captain of the Zimbabwe team and Sean Williams will lead the Test team.

The appointment of Lance Closner was confirmed at a meeting of the Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) Board on Monday evening.

Former South African all-rounder Lance Klusner has rejoined the Zimbabwe senior men’s national team as batting coach, just months after stepping down as Afghanistan’s head coach.

Klusner will take over from former Zimbabwean cricketer Stuart Matsikeneri, who will now take over as assistant coach, while Lalchand Rajput of India will continue as head coach.

Gloucester, who was Afghanistan’s head coach in November last year, resigned from his job and announced that he would not seek an extension after 2021.

The Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) Board is in the process of appointing a bowling coach and fitness coach for the men’s national team.

Meanwhile, Craig Erwin has been confirmed as Zimbabwe’s captain for ODIs and T20s. Zimbabwe Cricket said in a statement, “As interim captain for Ireland, Scotland and Sri Lanka, he has been given full-time responsibility after leading the national team to limited overs tours.”

Shaun Williams has been retained as Zimbabwe’s Test captain.
