Relentless cheers, positive energy and an arena full of students created a real festive feeling this Friday. Students from all over Latvia came to their first The whole class does sports opening event, enjoyed the festive ceremony and entertainment program. The project flag was brought to the event and BMX freestyle elements were demonstrated by Olympian Ernests Szebold, the young people were greeted and the names of the road were also given by javelin throwers Līna Mūze-Sirmā and Gatis Čakš. Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania Anda Čakša, Riga Vice Mayor Edvards Ratnieks, Jelgava City Council Deputy Chairperson Rita Vectirāne, RSU Vice-Rector Dins Šmits and LOK President Raimonds Lazdiņš addressed the young people solemnly.
As part of the project, the LOK special awards were presented for the seventh year in four nominations – Most Active Municipality – Cēsu County, Most Active Educational Institution – Nice Secondary School, Most Responsive Class Teacher – Mārīte Viļuma from Jēkabpils 3rd Secondary School, Most Responsive Sports Teacher – Aija Kēniņa from Kārlis Mülenbach Secondary School.

Plan The whole class does sports was created in 2014 with the aim of purposefully improving the physical fitness of all students in the 2nd – 6th grade groups by increasing the number of sports lessons to five lessons a week, giving motivation to do sports, as well as evaluating the success of students in studies. It is an opportunity to learn about different sports, as well as to strengthen the understanding of achieving a common result as a united team.
An additional benefit for all participating schools is the interactive draw Everyone plays sportsin which every week someone The whole class does sports the participating school will receive 5,000 euros. This financial benefit can be used to improve the school’s sports infrastructure, purchase sports equipment and inventory. The lottery is organized by VAS “Latvijas Loto” and the Latvian Olympic Committee as part of the “Movement that unites” initiative, which aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and sports activities in all age groups, while at the same time raising funds to support youth sports with the help of the lottery.
