Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province held a city-county meeting to share the Gangwon RISE promotion plan and collect opinions. The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (hereinafter referred to as ‘province’) Human Resources Development Department promoted the ‘Gangwon Regional Innovation-Oriented University Support System (hereinafter referred to as RISE)’ at the Gangwon Research Institute on Tuesday, October 15, with about 40 people in attendance, including city and county universities and higher education officials. A city-county meeting was held to share plans and collect opinions.

This meeting was prepared as an opportunity to share Gangwon RISE’s vision of ‘Global Gangwon, a future industry created by the region and universities together’ and the goal of ‘building a sustainable regional development ecosystem’, and to exchange opinions with the city and county. Main contents included explanation of the Gangwon RISE basic plan (draft), introduction of city-county-university cooperation projects, opinion collection and discussion, and future schedule information.

Kim Gyu-ha, head of the Provincial Talent Development Department, said, “For the stable establishment of Gangwon RISE, cooperation between the city, county, and university is urgent,” and added, “I hope that this information session will serve as an opportunity for the city and county to actively participate in Gangwon RISE.” He then emphasized, “We will do our best to build a virtuous cycle ecosystem of nurturing local talent, employment, entrepreneurship, and settlement through close cooperation between Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, cities, counties, local universities, and innovative institutions.”

The Gangwon RISE basic plan, which is being established by Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province to promote university financial support projects delegated to cities and provinces by the Ministry of Education, will be finalized in December after collecting various opinions from universities, innovation institutions, cities, counties, and companies in the province and going through a process of revision and supplementation. It will be confirmed.

Meanwhile, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, in collaboration with Gangwon Techno Park, held a “Future Vehicle Maintenance Manpower Training Seminar” at Welli Hilli, Hoengseong-gun on October 15. This seminar was prepared to share trends related to electric vehicles and the results of projects promoted by the province, and to explore ways to revitalize future vehicle maintenance education.

About 50 officials from the Provincial Strategic Industry Department, Transportation Department, Hoengseong-gun Investment Promotion Department, Gangwon Techno Park, Korea Transportation Safety Authority, and Korea Rebuilding Association attended the seminar to share trends in the changing global electric vehicle market and government policy directions, and discuss electric vehicle maintenance. Various cooperation measures to revitalize education were discussed.

In particular, Korea Transportation Safety Authority, Korea Rebuilding Association, and Ajou Automobile University participated and presented on △electric vehicle inspection and education policy measures △trends related to future vehicle maintenance △suggestions on training electric vehicle maintenance manpower in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province. Through this, more practical information and guidelines were provided for the roadmap of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province electric vehicle maintenance manpower training project.

The province has been conducting electric vehicle safety inspection and maintenance pilot training at the Hoengseong Knowledge Industry Center for the past two years (’22-23) as part of the ‘Gangwon Hoengseong Job Learning-type Win-Win Model Support Project’. In this process, 21 types of high-voltage safety education and test training operation equipment were built, and 7 types of professional teaching materials focused on online and offline curriculum and field use were developed.
