Three days after the start of the early voting in the southern state of GeorgiaIn the United States, more than a million votes have been sent by mail, an entity that is key for the US presidential elections on November 5.

It should be noted that, just last Tuesday, which was the first day of early voting, the state of Georgia broke recordswith more than 300 thousand votes castthat is, 123% higher than the last record, in 2020, with a figure of 136 thousand votes.

Yesterday, Friday, participation rose to more than a million early voters, around 14% of registered voters in the well-known “Peach State” or “peach state“, with capital in Atlanta.

“We’ve done it! We crossed the 1,000,000 voter mark around 11,500 am. Incredible turnout. So happy for the counties and voters. Let’s keep it up,” shared Gabriel Sterling, COO of the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office.

It is worth mentioning that the state of Georgia is key, which, according to recent polls, is very close in the presidential race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

This 2024, Donald Trump leads Kamala Harris by just 2 percentage points in Georgia, according to the latest polling averages on the political information website, The Hill, and the election results site, Decision Desk HQ.

In Georgia there are seven million registered voters, which means that one in seven eligible voters had cast their vote by Friday morning.

With 16 votes in the Electoral College, the entity is one of the seven that could define the race for the White House, so the two candidates have been in charge of intensifying their campaigns in that state.

Last Wednesday, a Georgia judge invalidated seven new election rules recently approved by the state Board of Elections, arguing that they are “illegal, unconstitutional and void.”
