Today the State Theater YUĞ is 35 years old, and its founder is an Honored Artist Vagifu Ibrahimoglu would have turned 75 years old, Day.Az reports.

YUĞ Theater Studio was founded on October 18, 1989 by Vagif Ibrahimoglu and Hasanaga Turabov under the auspices of the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theater. YUĞ became a new breath, bringing new trends and trends into the theater space. The main principles of this avant-garde theater were the relevance of selected themes, non-standard interpretation of familiar stories and experimentation with new forms. In 1992, YUĞ received the status of a state theater. Since its foundation, the theater has staged more than 100 performances. The theater’s repertoire includes works by both outstanding Azerbaijani authors and world classics. YUĞ State Theater successfully performs at many international and national festivals, and also cooperates with theaters from different countries. YUĞ is invariably associated with the name of Vagif Ibrahimoglu, who lived a short life, but despite this, played an important role in the formation of modern Azerbaijani theater, its development, and the emergence of new philosophical movements.

Today the YUĞ team paid tribute to the memory of the Master.

Vagif Ibrahimoglu (Hasanov) was born on October 18, 1949 in the village of Mardakan in Baku. Graduate of the Faculty of Cinema and Dramatic Acting of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Culture and Art. In 1973-1976 he was an actor at the Azerbaijan State Theater for Young Spectators. In 1976-1979 he was the artistic director of the Experimental Theater-Studio at the Azerbaijan Theater Society, in 1979-1982 – the Educational Theater, and in 1982-1989 – the chief director of the Azerbaijan State Theater of Musical Comedy (now the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theater). He staged performances at the Azerbaijan State National Academic Drama Theater, in theaters in the Turkish cities of Ankara, Bursa, and the Ugala Theater in Estonia. Since 1989 he has been the artistic director and chief director of the YUĞ Theater. Vagif Ibrahimoglu died on May 12, 2011.
