They are located at strategic locations along busy pedestrian routes in the heart of Utrecht, the Netherlands. They all have the same cardboard signs that say they are hungry. Our colleagues from the Dutch newspaper AD followed the trail of a group of beggars for months, who seem to be extremely organized. Who are they? Where do they sleep? What do they earn? And are they really as hungry as they are? “A lot of us just have a house, but not here.”
