Apple is updating the iPad Air with the M1 processor and an improved camera

by time news

Apple has announced a specification update for the iPad Air, the mid-range model in its tablet lineup, which stands between the base iPad and the more expensive iPad Pro. The new model maintains the same look as its predecessor, with relatively narrow edges around the screen, a 10.9-inch display and a resolution of 2360X1640 pixels, and a fingerprint scanner embedded inside the power button on the side.

The main upgrade is the transition from the previous model’s A14 Bionic chipset, to Apple’s M1 chip which provides significantly improved performance. This is the same chip found in Apple’s MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13 models, as well as the iPad Pro. The company claims to have significantly good capabilities both in applications used for video and graphics editing, and for 3D games.

The iPad Air’s front camera has been upgraded to a 12-megapixel sensor with a wide-angle lens. This camera also supports Center Stage technology, which allows for automatic tracking and focusing during video calls. The tablet models that come with a mobile connection, will now come with support for connecting to fifth generation networks (5G).

The new iPad Air will be available for purchase in a relatively wide range of colors: gray, pink, blue, purple and silver-gold hue. Prices in the US start at $ 599 for a 64GB model for file storage, starting at $ 749 for a model with a cellular connection. It will hit stores on March 18th.
