India’s PV Sindhu and Srikanth advance to 2nd round of Jomman Open Badminton Tournament
In the women’s singles, Sindh defeated Thailand’s Busanan Angamrangpan 21-8, 21-7 in the first round in 32 minutes. In the next round, Ava will face either Beatrice Correls of Spain or Zhang Yi Man of China.
In the Ottawa singles, Srikanth defeated France’s Bryce Livades 21-10, 13-21, 21-17 in 48 minutes. In the 2nd round Srikanth meets Lu Guangzhou of China.
However, in the women’s doubles, Harita Harinarayanan / Ansha Roy lost 9-21, 10-21 to Italy’s Motina Cossini / Judith Mayo in 23 minutes.
In the mixed doubles, India’s Sai Pradeep / Sikki Reddy lost 19-21, 8-21 in the first round to Thailand’s Bhuvnugro Theesapol / Deradanasi Sabsiri in 31 minutes. Another Indian pair, Dhruv Kapila / Gayatri Gopichand, also fell close to Indonesia’s Maulana Adnan / Bandosa Michelle Kristin 19-21, 19-21.
