One has to dream big – La Nación

Jairo Campos, one of the coaches of the training divisions of Independiente del Valle, was interviewed by journalist Daniela Romero for PRIMICIAS and referred to his present as coach and that he does dream of directing the Ecuadorian team.

«I thought that without having studied, just by playing, I could lead any team or any team, but no. There are many factors that would not allow you to do it correctly, because you have to absorb many things, because managing with children is totally different from managing with older people,” he expressed.

Then, he added: «My idea is to grow in IDV. I started as an assistant in the Sub 13, I had a great teacher there, Diego Pillajo. One wonders why people like that don’t have the opportunity to lead a first team. I think that the teachers who have been here for more than five years could easily be directing any top team in the country. Leaders should start seeing that.

«My idea is to learn what I can and then take the leap. Go little by little. “I see myself in about two or three years already directing a youth team, a first-class team, being able to have that possibility,” he said.

Finally, if he dreams of directing La TRI, he stated: «Yes, why not? One has to dream big, one has to project oneself and attract that. But also prepare. In the place I am now I am learning a lot and I am sure that, in the future, I will achieve that goal. (D)
