In response to the reforms and security problems attributed to the Government of Gustavo Petro, sectors of the opposition have called for a national mobilization, called the “people’s march,” scheduled for November 23 in Bogotá.
Originally scheduled for November 17, the demonstration was postponed due to the coincidence with a cycling race in the capital, which organizers said would complicate the logistics of the march. Jaime Arizabaleta, lawyer and one of the leaders of the protest, explained that this change will allow the mobilization to be carried out without interference.

Arizabaleta accuses the Government of using undemocratic methods, such as lies and persecution, to intimidate its opponents. He also criticized the reforms proposed by the Petro administration, which, according to him, put the country’s economy and the health of Colombians at risk.
The lawyer also expressed concern about the security situation in the country, pointing out that the Government has allowed guerrilla groups to patrol the roads. “We will rise up against a Government that has neglected security, that has handed the country over to the guerrillas that today patrol the country’s roads,” he stated.
