An elderly man has died in a fire at his home in Walchedrum

A 62-year-old man living alone from the city of Valchedrum, Montana region, died in a fire at his home, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Montana announced. On October 20, at 11:58 p.m., the Regional Office in Lom received a report from a resident of the town of Wulchedrum, who reported a fire in a neighboring property.

The fire destroyed 120 sq.m. roof structure and living quarters. In this case, a duty operational group was formed, which visited the scene of the accident together with an expert from the Regional Directorate “Fire Safety and Protection of the Population” (RDPBZN) – Montana. During the inspection, the burnt body of the occupant of the property was found in one of the premises, which was transported for an autopsy to the “Dr. Stamen Iliev” Multidisciplinary Hospital for Active Treatment in Montana.

The causes of the fire are in the process of being clarified, and at the moment there are no signs of intentional arson. According to initial data, the accident was the result of carelessness when handling a solid fuel stove. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.

At the end of September this year, two people died in a fire in their house in the Lom village of Zamfir.

A total of 126 fires were extinguished in the country yesterday, the General Directorate of Fire Safety and Protection of the Population announced earlier.
