Marco Baixinho and Daniel dos Anjos scored the goals for the team from the city of Lis. Matheus Dias‘ effort was not enough for the goals of the Madeira team. There was a Cup in Leiria
Surprise… only for those who haven’t seen the game. UD won Leiria Nacional (2-1), in a match related to the 3rd round of the Portuguese Cup, which was held this Sunday evening, at Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa, in Leiria, and is still in the main national football competition.
The team led by Filipe Cândido were better in almost every area of the game and took the lead in the 33rd minute, when Marco Baixinho, with his head, made the best follow-up to a throw-in taken by Habib Sylla. The island’s defense was too sympathetic in this move, including its goalkeeper, Rui Encarnação, and the hosts’ captain took advantage to open the scoring.
The Madeiran reaction came only in the second half and from a penalty kick. Matheus Dias, who is known to convert the maximum penalty, did not have recourse to Fábio Ferreira and restored the equality.
But the goal conceded to UD Leiria had no impact and he returned to the attack. As it was, shortly afterwards, and also after a penalty, he managed to return to the lead on the scoreboard. Daniel dos Anjos, in the 79th minute, scored the goal and stamped the pass of the unifiers for the 4th round of the Copa do Brasil.
