Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa went to the polls in 10 phases from the 10th to the 7th of last month.
Votes cast in all state elections will be counted tomorrow (March 10). The Election Commission has made arrangements to conduct the counting of votes with precautions against the spread of corona infection. Steps have also been taken to publish the election results at regular intervals.
Results in most volumes will be known by the afternoon. Post-election polls suggest BJP will rule Uttar Pradesh for the second time with a simple majority. While the Punjab-Bill Aam Aadmi Party is likely to rule, opinion polls suggest that neither party is likely to get a simple majority in Goa and Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that electronic voting machines were being tampered with. He complained to Election Commission officials that electronic voting machines were being relocated without the knowledge of the candidates.

In this situation, the petition filed in the Supreme Court seeking to check the ‘Vivipad’ acknowledgment slips before counting the votes is coming up for hearing today. It is customary for the acknowledgment slips registered in the Vivipad tool to be checked after the votes have been counted in the electronic voting machine.
A writ petition filed by former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in this regard has been filed seeking an urgent inquiry. Questioning the present appeal, the judge directed the Election Commission to be informed about the writ petition and said that the petition would be heard today as the counting of votes was scheduled to take place tomorrow.
