The Oral Court of Puente Alto decreed a monthly signature and national roots for César Ahumada, also known as the shaman from Pirque, who was formalized for the death of a 38-year-old woman, in the middle of a detoxification ritual.

The court rejected the request for preventive detention for the shamansince it could not be proven that the crime of homicide was committed against Antonella Canales.

The woman arrived at the Manto Wasi center, run by shaman César Ahumada, to face depression, omitting information about his medical problemsdespite the questions asked on the spot.

Rodrigo González, Ahumada’s defender, told MegaNoticias that “the prosecutor in the detention control hearing that took place on Friday mentioned that he had a pacemaker and we had breakfast with that.”

The Oral Court specified that Canales’ medical record showed heart conditions that were not mentioned at the time of starting the detoxification ritual.

“This can also happen in a hospital. “If a patient goes and they ask him if he has an allergy, he says no and he has an allergy, they give him a drug and he dies,” said the defender of the shaman, who stressed that the woman did not consume ayahuasca, but only tea with tobacco.

“In fact, she wanted to take ayahuasca and she was not given ayahuasca precisely because she had some psychological history,” added the defender.
