The musician died at the age of 66 years. He was a British heavy metal legend from 1978 to 1981 and sang on the first two albums “Iron Maiden” and “Killers“.
British singer Paul di Anno has died aged 66. He played on Iron Maiden’s first two albums – “Iron Maiden” and “Killers”. After replacing Bruce Dickinson in the British metal band, he had a career as a solo singer and with various bands, but he could not come close to the popularity of Iron Maiden.
In recent years, Di Anno, whose real name was Paul Andrews, has struggled with health problems. He was repeatedly treated for a knee problem and sat in a wheelchair – even at concerts.
It wasn’t until July that he met his successor at Iron Maiden for the first time at a meeting in Zagreb. In mid-September, the singer, who also suffered from a weak immune system and depression, announced that he would no longer tour and would only play select shows. A few more gigs were scheduled for 2025. Only in September was the release of “The Book Of The Beast,” a sampler with songs from Anno’s entire career after leaving Iron Maiden. (eco)
