Bogotá DC October 21, 2024 (Senate Press).- The opening ceremony of COP 16, on Biodiversity, was held in the city of Cali, department of Cauca, which will take place from October 21 to November 1, 2024. The event was held at the Pacific Valley Events Center, in the Zone Blue as it is called. Representatives from the countries, local communities, academics, among others, will come to this place.
It was attended by the President of the Republic Gustavo Petro, the Minister of Environment Susana Muhamad, the Minister of Ecology of China and local authorities. In addition, the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres.
During the ceremony, a sound ritual was performed called ‘Peace with Nature’, which invited attendees to reflect on peace and the protection of the environment. An art show entitled ‘Of Water and Earth’ will be presented by the National Center for the Arts of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Information.
This four-minute symbolic ritual called Law of Origin, Songs of Water, Breath of the World and Tree of Life will bring together indigenous communities, Afro-descendants, farmers and young people to celebrate the connection between humanity and nature to strengthen. that music, dance and words mix. At the opening, the cultural event ‘Out of water and Earth’ will show the connection between man and nature.
The closing ceremony was led by Canadian artist Genevieve Cote, who presented ‘Sounds of Peace with Nature’. Through your voice you will recreate the sounds of the earth, animals, the sea, the desert, a series of sounds for a unique immersive experience.
After the opening ceremony, attendees took part in the Peaceful Symphony Concert, as part of the Ministry of Culture’s Sounds for the Construction of Peace programme.
43 boys, girls and young natives from Tacueyó, Cauca took part in it, which will be part of the concert of the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia. Together with artists from the Colombian Pacific such as Nidia Góngora, Hugo Candelario, Constantino Herrera Lewis, Johan Castro, Yeferson Carabalí, Jafet Andrade, Carlos Bonilla, Andrés Sánchez, Constantino Herrera, Wilson Viveros, Fredy Colorado, Marcos Micolta, Clarisol Martínez, Jafet Andrade Charria.
