The wreckage of the Antarctic ship Sir Ernest Shackleton, an Antarctic explorer who sank at sea in 1915, is now 107 years old.

The whereabouts of this wooden ship, which sank in the cutting sea after being trapped in ice in 1915, have been a mystery for a century. However, a crew has now found the ship intact at a depth of 3,008 meters, largely undamaged. The ship has now been found approximately four miles south of where it was first recorded by Captain Frank Worsley.

Speaking on the occasion, Menson Pound, the director of the study, said, “We are thrilled to have found the ship Endurance, and the image of the ship remains intact.

Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew set sail in 1915 to reach the land of Antarctica. But due to heavy glaciers the ship did not reach the land and the ship got stuck in the dense ice. So the 28 people on board eventually had to abandon the ship and escape. They were trapped in the snow for about 10 months, and after a great struggle returned home in boats, with the aid of supplies, and on foot.
