France leads the way in countries where discrimination based on religion and belief is perceived as a widespread problem. This problem was indicated by 66% of survey participants.
As Day.Az reports with reference to Anadolu, this is evidenced by the results of a survey of the European Commission conducted among approximately 26 thousand people from 27 EU member countries.
Next on this list are Belgium (60%), Sweden (58%), the Netherlands (54%) and the Greek Administration of Southern Cyprus (53%).
According to the survey, 61% of Europeans consider discrimination based on skin color or ethnic origin to be a serious problem.
The survey showed that despite many years of efforts by the European Union and comprehensive anti-discrimination legislation, problems associated with social inequality and prejudice in the countries of the community persist.
The report indicates an increase in discrimination compared to previous years.

21% of respondents reported experiencing discrimination or bullying in the past year. It is emphasized that skin colour, ethnic origin, age and socio-economic status are among the most common causes of discrimination in Europe.
Among EU countries, ethnic discrimination is most common in the Netherlands (82%), followed by France (77%), Italy (75%), Sweden (73%) and Belgium (69%).
The study shows that discrimination and bullying in Europe most often occurs in public or workplace settings.
Among survey respondents, 42% believe that discrimination based on religion or belief is widespread in their countries.
