The last few days have been characterized by bad weather and a lot of precipitation. The gray weather continues, and on Tuesday evening there may be lightning and thunder, according to the duty meteorologist at the Meteorological Institute, Emili Carin Rønning.
– There has been some lightning outside Haugesund early on Tuesday, and there have been some lightning strikes out in the North Sea, Rønning tells BA.
This may move towards Bergen, but Rønning believes it will mostly stay close to the coast.
– There may be the occasional lightning this afternoon and throughout the day. It’s hard to guess where it will strike, but most likely it will be closer to the coast.
Leave the umbrella at home
Both Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be windy and rainy. Especially on Wednesday, a lot of precipitation is anticipated.
– It will be gray and rough on Wednesday. There will be a lot of wind and it will blow strongly on the coast and in the mountains.
Especially Wednesday will be a miserable day.
– So should one not bring the umbrella?
– Then I would hold on to it tightly! An umbrella is not very useful considering the wind.
Rønning herself wouldn’t step outside if she could help it.
– If I could choose, I would stay inside on Wednesday.
Chances for dry weather
A small hope in the gray weather is Thursday and Friday. There will be a possibility for dry weather.
– The weekend is more uncertain, and there may be quite a few showers.
Despite the gray and miserable weather, temperatures remain quite mild.
– There is quite a bit of low-pressure activity bringing warm air masses over the city. The temperature will remain steady throughout the week and into the weekend.
Warmer than normal
The thermometer will hover around 12 to 14 degrees.
Next week, temperatures will drop a few degrees. Nonetheless, it has been unusually warm this past week for late October.
– It’s quite gray, but at least mild. The temperature is above average, a couple of degrees above normal this past week.
