New Delhi: The days of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited i.e. BSNL, the government company of telecom sector, are going to end soon. Such prediction was made today by Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. He not only unveiled the new logo of BSNL here today, but also launched seven new services of the company to improve connectivity in rural and urban areas.
Customers are increasing rapidly
On this occasion, Scindia said that the number of customers in BSNL is increasing rapidly. In March this year, the number of BSNL customers was around 75 lakh. It has increased to Rs 1.80 crore in just six months. Along with this, the number of BSNL towers is also increasing rapidly. Six months ago, the number of its towers was 38,000, which has now reached one lakh.
The fear of spam will no longer haunt you
Sidhaniya, on behalf of the government telecom company, announced the spam-blocking solution here. This means that now whatever call will be made to the customers for cheating or phishing, it will already be filtered and blocked. Along with this, its system will automatically filter and block malicious SMS.
High-speed internet will be available across the country
The company also announced national Wi-Fi roaming service for BSNL FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) customers. This will enable customers to have high-speed internet access across the country without any additional charges. Along with this, BSNL also launched the first of its kind fiber-based intranet TV service with more than 500 live channels. The company said that data used in consuming television content will not deplete the broadband data pack.
Direct to device connectivity
BSNL also announced a direct-to-device connectivity solution that integrates satellite and terrestrial mobile networks to provide seamless connectivity. The service will allow sending text messages and making UPI payments in areas where no terrestrial network is present.
This will help in disaster and crisis
The government telecom company will also provide encrypted communications for the government and relief agencies in case of disaster and crisis. The service will use drone-based and balloon-based systems to increase coverage during disasters.
Network in coal mine also
The company also introduced the first captive 5G network for coal mines in India. In partnership with C-DAC and using locally manufactured 5G devices, the network will enable advanced AI and IoT applications in underground mines and large opencast mines. Applications include security analytics, real-time remote control of equipment and augmented-reality enabled remote maintenance, fleet tracking and optimization.
