The No. 1 pick in June’s draft appreciated the Atlanta Hawks‘ home win against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.
Frenchman Zaccharie Risacher, number 1 in June’s draft, said he was “very happy” with the first game of his NBA career after the Atlanta Hawks’ home success against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday (120-116).
Substituted at the opening whistle, the young winger came on at the end of the first quarter for a dream first ball: a pass from Trae Young, a successful three-point shot with compliments from the Hawks’ All-Star leader, and applause from the public.
“I’m running, we’re in transition, he turns around, passes me, I’m all alone. I take hundreds of shots like this every day, so I’m pretty comfortable in that situation. And there it is. There were so many emotions, he congratulated me, I was very excited, he was happy for me, I was happy for myself too. But we had to immediately get back on defense and move forward because the game didn’t have time to stop in those moments,” Risacher said in the locker room after the match.
“I’m super happy and very happy with this premiere. I hope that little by little we continue in this direction and that things get better and better for the future”, added the 19-year-old Frenchman, who scored 7 points in 19 minutes.
Author of a nice dunk, Risacher was also clumsy (2 of 8 shooting, including 1 of 4 from distance, 2 of 4 shooting): “I found it a bit frustrating. Mentally, you can get very high right at the beginning. And then I miss success over medium distances and from afar. But it was nice, natural, I didn’t force it.”
The young Frenchman played under the eyes of his parents, including his father Stéphane, a former French international. “I’m very happy that they were there, to be able to share this with them, to show them my daily life, my new life.”
“I can’t wait for two days to be able to play again,” against Charlotte, Risacher concluded.
