The Panguni Uttara ceremony at the Shiva temples in Kumbakonam area started yesterday with flag hoisting.

Panguni Order Ceremony

The Panguni Uttara festival is held annually at 3 famous Shiva temples in Kumbakonam, including the famous Nageswaran Temple, Adigampatta Viswanathar Temple and Kottaiyur Kodiswarar Temple.

Accordingly, this year’s Panguni Uttara festival at these Shiva temples started yesterday morning with flag hoisting at the respective temples. At that time, the Panchamoorthy Swamis in all the 3 Shiva temples presented special floral decorations to the devotees. A special anointing of the flagpole followed, and the ceremony was flagged off.

Sami darshan was attended by a large number of devotees.

Sami Veediula was held last night at 3 Shiva temples in a row. This is followed by Sami departures in various vehicles every morning and evening.

The main event of the festival is the Olai Sabbaram on the 13th, the Tirukkalyanam on the 15th, the Therottam on the 17th, and the Tirthwari on behalf of the Nageswarar and Adigampatta Viswanatha Sami temples at the Mahamagam pool on the 18th during the Panguni Uttara festival from 12 noon to 1 pm. Similarly, the Tirthwari of the Kottaiyur Millionaire Temple takes place on the banks of the Cauvery River.
