Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, in collaboration with Clalit Health Services and medical staffs of other hospitals, announced earlier this week that a special field hospital will be established in Lvov tomorrow.
It is a complex military operation, at the end of which the hospital, which includes inpatient wards for children and adults, medicines, and a medical staff that includes doctors and nurses, will all be there to help the refugees.
All the relevant parties welcomed and boasted that the State of Israel is assisting the Ukrainians in the humanitarian crisis, but one factor that holds the money – the Ministry of Finance and Minister Avigdor Lieberman, is not willing to budget for the establishment of the field hospital.
Sources in the Ministry of Finance said: “We heard about the establishment of a Sheba field hospital from the media, no one was sitting with us. This event can cost up to a billion shekels, and in general the factor that establishes field hospitals on behalf of Israel is the IDF.
As a result, the hospital that Israel is so proud of that it intends to establish depends on donors. If such are found – the hospital will be established, and if not – will not be established.
According to the report, Sheba is still determined to establish the hospital, but it will probably not be with the help of the Ministry of Finance.
