The inaugural event of the service of 108 ambulances, the new emergency vehicles on behalf of the Department of Medicine and Public Welfare, took place at the District Collector’s Office premises. District Collector Krishnanunni presided over the function, waved the flag and inaugurated the service. Then he said: –

There are 1,303 108 ambulances operating in Tamil Nadu. In addition, the First Minister of Tamil Nadu has launched a new service of 188 ambulances to expedite the service. Following this 3 new 108 ambulances have been started in Erode district. There are already 42 emergency vehicles in Erode district. An additional 7 emergency vehicles have been allocated. Of these, 3 vehicles are currently in service. These ambulances are to be operated at Appakkudal Primary Health Center, Tindal Primary Health Center and Government Medical College Hospital at Perundurai.
