The Commission for Consumer Protection is withdrawing from the market two types of high chairs that are dangerous for the health of small children.
The inspections were initiated on the occasion of notifications received from the “Customs” Agency for the import of the chairs in question from countries outside the EU. They were given for testing in an accredited laboratory in connection with the participation of KZP in a project for coordinated market surveillance activities “CASP 2024” of the European committee.
From the results of the tests, it is clear that the children’s highchairs do not meet certain indicators of the applicable standard for this type of product, which makes them unsafe to use.
The most serious inconsistencies are expressed in the overturning of high chairs when used in a certain position. In one case, when a vertical load is applied at the lowest product seat height adjustment, and in the other case, when moving backwards at all backrest angles.
For the identified non-conformities, notifications are to be prepared in the EU rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products SAFETY GATE RAPEX.
