Coalition for media literacy will present an interactive map of media literacy in our country within the framework of its annual expert conference. Official guests of the event will be the Deputy Minister of Education Natalia Miteva and experts on the subject of “media literacy” from France, Slovenia, Hungary and Romania.
The interactive map will be presented on October 23 in Sofia, within the National Conference 2024: “Media Literacy: Sustainability, Expertise, Solutions”. The map was developed by KMG in order to give visibility to the organizations and initiatives that have been working for the last 10 years for the development of the media, digital and information literacy of the Bulgarian society. The open format of the map presents in a structured version the data collected on the media literacy projects and programs implemented in the country, allowing them to be analyzed and interpreted by experts, organizations in the civil sector and everyone , who would like to use the summary information in their work.
The official guest of the forum, who will participate in the opening panel, is Natalia Miteva – Deputy Minister of Education and Science. In the second, entitled “Media Literacy in Europe: The Experience of Teachers”, media and education experts from France, Slovenia, Hungary and Romania will share successful practices applied in their countries’ education systems to develop students’ media literacy.
The second part of the conference will give participants the opportunity to participate in moderated working groups with representatives from different sectors of education or in workshops, within which resources and tools for teaching media literacy will be presented.
The Media Literacy Coalition has been organizing the conference since 2018 with the partnership of the Friedrich Naumann Freedom Foundation, bringing together the key stakeholders working on the topic in Bulgaria – teachers and principals, representatives of institutions, media and the civil sector.
