The Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR) announced upcoming work in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions.
Day.Az reports this with reference to the report SOCAR on sustainable development for 2023.
It was noted that SOCAR is ready to develop the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions as a carbon-neutral zone, and in this context, its participation is possible through a number of measures, which include: reducing emissions – increasing energy efficiency, using opportunities such as “CCU /CCUS” etc., creation of electric vehicle infrastructure – creation of a regional electric vehicle infrastructure, gas replacement – replacement of gas with renewable energy sources, H2, and other solutions for environmentally friendly energy, production of “green” fuel – replacement of traditional hydrocarbon fuels with biogas and biodiesel.
It should be noted that SOCAR is the first national oil company of Azerbaijan, which actively participates in the processes of international economic development, works in the oil and gas industry, occupying an important place on the world stage. The company was founded in accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated September 13, 1992 and, as part of its activities, aims to create a positive and responsible impact on the economy, social and environment. To achieve these goals, the company’s strategy, policies and rules, as well as a corresponding mission, were defined. Increasing environmental and social efficiency is one of the main principles in all new projects implemented by the company towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
