New Delhi: German Ambassador Dr Philipp Ackermann on Thursday visited India’s first RRTS corridor and rode the NaMo Bharat train. During this time, NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goyal was also present with him. During the visit, senior NCRTC officials informed him about the project. After the journey, he praised the Namo Bharat train highly.

Journey from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot

Dr. Ackerman experienced fast, safe and reliable travel in the new age transit system Namo Bharat Train from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot RRTS station. He appreciated the passenger-centric amenities at RRTS stations that have been thoughtfully designed for comfortable regional mobility and the features of NaMo Bharat trains. Along with this, he also praised the efforts to make RRTS one of the greenest means towards sustainable development in the transport sector.

Meanwhile, Ackerman also took stock of the state-of-the-art operations control center at Duhai RRTS depot. Here the NCRTC team introduced them to the many ground-breaking technologies being adopted for this first-of-its-kind project in India. Dr. Ackerman also praised the efforts of NCRTC for the timely implementation of this large scale complex project.

Along with this, Ackermann also appreciated the India-Germany partnership between NCRTC and the Indian subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn (DB) for the efficient operation of India’s first RRTS corridor.

The visit of the German Ambassador reflects the growing cooperation between India and Germany in the field of sustainable transport and infrastructure development. The yatra concluded with tree plantation at RRTS depot in Duhai.

Where are Namo Bharat services now?

Presently Namo Bharat services are operational on a 42 km segment. It includes nine stations including Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Muradnagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North and Meerut South. With the addition of Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar segment, the length of Namo Bharat operated section will soon expand to 54 kilometres. After this, Namo Bharat train services will also be available at Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar stations.
