Alexander Lukashenko said that attempts to annex Belarus to Russia could lead to war.
Lukashenko spoke about this in an interview with Russian media.
He noted that in Russian “high circles” there are forces that want to see Belarus as part of Russia, but such actions, according to him, will lead to conflict.
“Some people in high circles in Russia are itching to annex Belarus, but an attempt to do this will turn into war,” Lukashenko said.
Lukashenko emphasized that the Union State already allows both countries to build close relations without requiring unification into a single state.
The Belarusian leader also revealed that Russia has more than once offered Belarus to join its membership, arguing for economic advantages and readiness to provide assistance. However, Lukashenko considers such ideas impossible and unrealistic, adding that this threatens war.
Lukashenko stressed the importance of taking into account modern realities and avoiding the thinking of the Middle Ages, when the seizure of territories was common practice.
He called for responsible politics and warned that in today’s world it is important to think about consequences rather than seek dominance at any cost.
Earlier, Kursor wrote that Lukashenko announced the potential “liquidation” of Zelensky.
The leader of Belarus said that if Zelensky decides to leave Ukraine, “his own people” will kill him as a traitor.
“Kursor” also wrote that Lukashenko said that Ukraine has already been “denazified.”
According to the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, 70% of Ukrainians allegedly dislike Zelensky.
