Organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Peru in Rabat as part of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Peru, this exhibition highlights a selection of pieces which celebrate important aspects of the cultural and natural wealth of this Latin American country.

In a statement to MAP, Mr. Pedro Diaz Vargas, Chargé d’affaires ai of the Peruvian Embassy in Morocco, expressed his gratitude to Bank Al-Maghrib for hosting this exhibition in the Kingdom. He also stressed that this initiative aims to celebrate a “year rich in cultural exchanges between the two countries” and is part of a series of significant events, which will end in December.

The Peruvian diplomat warmly invited the Moroccan public to discover this exhibition, offering, according to him, “a unique insight into our history through these coins.”

For his part, the director of the Bank Al-Maghrib museum, Rochdi Bernoussi, underlined the importance of this initiative to highlight the cultural wealth of this Latin American country.

“These coins illustrate the diversity and historical heritage of Peru, a country with which Morocco shares many cultural and lifestyle points,” he said.

He also recalled the cultural relations which continue to develop between Morocco and Latin American countries, notably Peru, specifying that there are certain aspects of similarities between the monetary systems of these countries and this exhibition offers the opportunity to make them accessible to the public.

Visitors to this exhibition, which continues until November 19, will have the opportunity to discover various aspects of Peruvian identity illustrated on the exhibits, ranging from Peru’s endangered wildlife to figures symbolizing the national wealth in going through the role of women in the independence process of the Andean country.
