During a press conference dedicated to the presentation of the runners participating in this edition of the marathon, organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, they specified that this event will see the participation of high-level international runners such as the Kenyan Emmanuel Naibei, the Eritrean Nguse Amlosom, and the Ethiopian Gadisa Tajebe.
They added that in addition to the participation of renowned runners on the international sporting scene, this year’s edition will see the participation of Moroccan runners such as Hamza Sahli, Omar Ait Chitachen, Kelthoum Bouaasria and Hasnaa Zahi, stressing that this edition will be a opportunity for Moroccan athletes to measure themselves against their international counterparts.
On this occasion, the general director of the local development company “Casablanca Events et Animation”, Mohamed Jouahri, indicated that the runners participating in this edition represent more than 50 nationalities, adding that the races are divided between the 42 km marathon , the 21 km half-marathon, and the 10 km race, with Mohammed V Square on Hassan II Avenue as the starting and finishing point, in addition to the “kids run”.
He stressed that this marathon embodies the passion of Casablanca residents for sport, highlighting that this sporting event has become a showcase reflecting the dynamism experienced by the city and its commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle.
He added that the Casablanca International Marathon also constitutes an ideal opportunity to promote the city’s assets at all levels, confirming that thousands of participants and volunteers were mobilized to ensure the success of this edition.
Mr. Jouahri invited the inhabitants of Casablanca to take advantage of this exceptional sporting event, to encourage the runners and to avoid the use of cars during the race.
For his part, the road racing expert, Ahmed Tanani, declared that “This year’s edition is distinguished by new, carefully studied routes. Thanks to the collaboration of all parties concerned and all stakeholders, the routes were chosen to reflect the beauty of the main arteries of the economic capital.
Organized by “Casablanca Events & Animation”, under the aegis of the Wilaya of the Casablanca-Settat region and the commune of Casablanca, and in partnership with the Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation, the Casablanca-Settat region, the Regional Academy of Education and Training of Casablanca-Settat and the Hassan II University of Casablanca, this edition brings its share of new features, according to the organizers, with the doubling of arrival bonuses, as well as bonuses aimed at encouraging exceptional performance.
Note that a Marathon Village has been installed on Place Rachidi to welcome participants wishing to register for the races or collect their bibs, in addition to housing an exhibition space dedicated to partners, relaxation and catering, and various parallel activities.
This international marathon is an annual event that attracts thousands of runners, amateurs and professionals, who set off through the main arteries of Casablanca, offering an exceptional opportunity to discover the beating heart of the economic capital.
To offer the best conditions to runners, the Casablanca city council has decided to interrupt traffic along the marathon route, which begins in front of the headquarters of the Wilaya of the Casablanca-Settat region (Place Mohammed V) and crosses the main arteries and architectural monuments of the city.
