Former President Donald Trump’s plane crashed into an engine and was forced to make an emergency landing Saturday in New Orleans, where the president gave a speech at an event held at the local Republican convention, according to a New York Post report.

The plane crashed over the Gulf of Mexico after leaving New Orleans on its way to Trump’s resort in Mar a Lago in Palm Beach, Florida and the pilot decided to turn around, the Politico Washington Post reported Wednesday.

An audio recording between the pilot and the air traffic control tower indicated that the landing was described as an “emergency landing in nature,” according to a source quoting content from the recording.

As the plane was preparing for the emergency landing in New Orleans, the traffic controller told the pilot, “there will be vehicles following you down the runway,” “I appreciate that,” the pilot responded. After Trump’s plane landed in New Orleans, the Republican National Convention found another plane for the former president.

Trump’s plane flew about 75 miles after taking off from New Orleans Airport and reaching an altitude of about 28,000 feet as it turned around.

A Trump spokesman declined to comment, although an email that raised funds for former presidential supporters said with some humor that they were now planning to build a new “Trump Force 1”.

“The construction of this plane was closed – even the fake media do not know about it,” it said in an email,

“And I can’t wait to expose him so everyone can see.”
