Krishnagiri: Led by Krishnagiri District Food Smuggling Prevention Unit Police Inspector Valarmati, SIs Thennarasu, Gopinath and police conducted raids in and around Tenkanikottai and Mathur. The TVS, XL, near Perugopanapalli, was found to have smuggled ration rice when it was turned over to a moped. Police seized 1,200 kg of rice from 22 bundles of 50 kg, which he had stored in the area, and arrested Viji, 52, of Perugopanapalli. Similarly, a Mahindra pick-up van was stopped and checked near a petrol punk at Dhenkanikottai. It was revealed that there were 2,100 kg of ration rice in 42 bundles weighing 50 kg. It was also revealed when he tried to smuggle it to Karnataka. Following this, police arrested Sabir Khan, 30, of Sipoy Pallam area, Mathigiri, and Anekal Syed Javid, 40, of Anekal, Karnataka.
