Outgoing President Kazi Salahuddin has called for the selection of honest and devoted football fans in the Bangladesh Football Federation (BAFFE) elections. He was president for a record four consecutive terms. He did not stand for election again this time.
On Saturday (October 26) at noon at a five-star hotel in the capital, Bafuf’s election will be held. Before that, the annual general meeting was held at 11 am. Salahuddin gave a speech there as the outgoing president.
Outgoing President Saladin gave a speech? The journalists present were interested to know this. Imrul Hasan, who was elected unopposed as the senior vice-president in this year’s election, said that at the end of the AGM.
As Salauddin Bhai said in his farewell address, the delegates should show honesty in forming the new committee. Those who have an idea about football, those who like football – such honest and devoted football lovers, who are there, have called to elect them.
Voting is being held for 20 posts as the senior vice-president has been elected. Two candidates are contesting for the post of President, 6 for the post of Vice President and 40 candidates for the post of Executive. Voting will continue from 2 pm to 6 pm.
An exceptional event happened in this year’s AGM. A representative of the National Sports Council (NSC) gave a speech, highlighting the direction of the government.
Imrul said, ‘This is the first time the representative of NSC came to Dias and gave a speech and presented some guidelines of the government in front of the delegation. This was the specialty of this AGM over other AGMs.’
A budget of Rs 61 crore was proposed in the AGM. There is a deficit of 14 crores. The present delegates called for it to be presented to the new committee.
The general secretary presented last year’s report in the AGM. A proposed budget for the new year was also given. But most of the delegates demanded that since the new committee is coming, it should be presented before the new committee. So it will be presented in the future’ – said Imrul.
Imrul also talked about his election manifesto. Imrul wants to work together with everyone in the new committee, who has become vice president and senior vice president.
“I have given manifesto as a candidate. When the select committee comes, I will put it before them. If the select committee feels it is necessary to act on that manifesto… someone else can add something new. We can connect them.’
“If those who are elected, all of them have a positive attitude, then it will be convenient to work according to this manifesto. I am hopeful, this time maybe people with a positive attitude will be elected compared to the previous time’- added Imrul.
