A Cuban mother from Guantánamo expressed her desperation before Miguel Díaz-Canel, asking for urgent help in the face of the critical situation her family faces in that province.
The woman, visibly fatigued by the lack of resources, shouted: “Water is what I need!”, lastsnte a tour of the dictator through the area, affected by heavy flooding caused by the passage of Hurricane Oscar, which has left many dead.
In a video that quickly went viral on social networks, the mother denounced the serious condition of her home, where a sick person is lying in bed without food.
His rhetorical question, “What shall I give you?”, resonated strongly, truly reflecting the anguish of thousands of Cubans who struggle daily to survive in the midst of the misery imposed by the Castro regime.
Although Díaz-Canel tried to calm the situation with “promises” to provide humanitarian aid such as water and food, these, as always, seemed empty in the face of the woman’s palpable desperation.
“A group of measures have been taken to support the population”said Díaz-Canel, without being able to maintain eye contact with the woman, showing that perhaps she had prepared that same response precisely for situations like these.
While the Cuban woman interrupted him on several occasions, he continued on his way, surrounded by a strong escort, which further highlighted the disconnection between the “rulers” and the true needs of the people.
Recently, also in Guantánamo, another young Cuban stood up to him to claim that the authorities had left him alone in the care of a 29-year-old, being a hero by saving the lives of all of them.
Currently, the Guantanamo population is going through a horrible reality, whether due to the weather conditions or the misery that is getting worse and worse.
