Towards the end of his third election campaign, US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump spoke at a campaign rally in the contested state of North Carolina about exploding hydrogen cars, lamented how difficult it was to clean limestone paint and admired how the billionaire’s rocket Elon Musk returned from space to earth intact, Reuters reported.
Meanwhile, at the event in the contested state of North Carolina, Trump said his Democratic rival Kamala Harris is not working as hard as he is, praised Chinese President Xi Jinping as “fierce” and called former President Barack Obama a “bastard.”
Reuters notes that as the November 5 presidential election approaches, the American president is becoming increasingly unruly. While most politicians would use the final days before the vote to make their closing arguments to voters, Trump has often acted more like a farewell tour performer than a man seeking to lead the world’s most powerful country.
The agency notes that his unfocused demeanor and dark rhetoric threaten to alienate some voters in the contested race, whose outcome hinges on several thousand votes in some contested states.
Harris, meanwhile, has increasingly used the words “unstable” and “unbridled” about Trump during his campaign events, pointing out that his behavior is evidence that he is a tired and old man who can’t be president.
“In many ways, Trump is a frivolous man, but the implications of his presidency are brutally serious,” Harris said last week.
Trump himself claims that he always returns to the main topic during his speeches, while his supporters believe that his improvisational style makes him attractive, writes BTA.
“This is a brilliant way to present important stories and explain policies to help ordinary Americans turn the page on the last four years of Kamala Harris’ failures,” said Stephen Chong, a spokesman for the Trump campaign.
Trump’s rallies have always included their share of digressions. But while the clock is ticking, the former president seems content to spend precious minutes telling stories about his days in the White House, musing about long-dead athletes or just saying whatever comes to mind.
Trump aides say he sets his own pace and speaks as long as he wants and that they don’t try to hold him back.
