Orban does not represent the EU during his visit to Georgia /

Hungary currently holds the EU’s rotating presidency, while Orbán is considered the Kremlin’s closest ally in the EU.

Orbán will arrive in Georgia on Monday, where, as expected, he will express his support for the pro-Russian party “Georgian Dream”, which has declared itself the winner of the zero parliamentary elections.

The opposition believes that the results are falsified.

“Whatever Mr. Orbán says during his visit to Georgia, he does not represent the EU,” Borrell told Spanish public radio RNE.

“The rotating presidency of the Union has no powers in foreign policy,” added the EU’s top diplomat.

Georgia’s pro-European opposition has called for mass demonstrations, and the country is preparing for protests on Monday.

The opposition accuses the ruling party of “stealing” the parliamentary elections, while the president has called the incident a “special Russian operation”.

Orban has already irritated the EU leadership with his divisive visits.

Brussels sharply criticized his July visit to Moscow, where the Hungarian prime minister met Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on a self-proclaimed “peace mission” to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.
