After 11 games, Sports Cali back to victory in the Betplay Series 2024-II. He did it before Atlético Bucaramanga at the smallest difference thanks to the goal of Andrey Estupiñán in the duel for matchday 15 played at the Palmaseca stadium.
In the first half, Bucaramanga would be in charge of generating the first chance of danger. Gastón Guruceaga cleared a ball to the edge of the area and then left it to Frank Castañeda who took a left foot shot that went straight into the hands of the Deportivo Cali goalkeeper.
Already in the 20th minute, Andrey Estupiñán received a cross from the left side by Gian Franco Cabezas and then the attacker took a shot with his left foot that was blocked by the Leopardo defense to send the ball to the corner kick. A few minutes later, Jarlan Barrera found himself from the right and took a precise cross to the head of Estupiñán who headed it into the back of the net.
In the 33rd minute, Bucaramanga came close again. Castañeda received a cross in the area and then tried to find Juan Camilo Mosquera, but the winger lost the ball and allowed the Cali defense to clear the ball.
Around 45′ the visitors had the clearest chance of a tie. Larry Vásquez received a brilliantly filtered pass and the midfielder entered the area and took a left-footed shot that hit the post of Guruceaga’s goal.
Already in the second half, Bucaramanga got in touch with Carlos Romaña who connected the ball, but the shot went into the hands of Guruceaga. In the 70th minute, Cali had another clear chance again. Fabián Viáfara went right and looked for Estupiñán, but Vásquez was first to send the ball to the sideline and avoid Azucarero’s goal.
Three minutes later, Estupiñán lost the second for Cali. The attacker received a great help from Javier Reina and then he would go completely alone and define a cross before the departure of the goalkeeper Aldair Quintana, but the ball hit the post.
In the end, Bucaramanga, who had gone ahead of Cali, almost got the tie thanks to a save by goalkeeper Aldair Quintana, but the goal was disallowed by VAR due to a previous foul in the area.
