As a result of the ‘clash’ between the champion and the club with the most history in Italy, Inter and Juventus remain in second and third place in the Transalpine League, but now further away from the leader Napoli.
After nine rounds, Napoli, who beat Lecce 1-0 on Saturday, lead with 22 points, compared to 18 for Inter and 17 for Juventus.
At the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, in the Milanese neighborhood of San Siro, the young Turkish player Kenan Yildiz was the star of the game, with two goals in the second half, in the 71st and 82nd minutes, to nullify the Nerazzurri’s 4-2 lead, at 20 minutes to go.
Entering the middle of the second half, Yildiz scored two beautiful goals, with his left foot, with crossed shots, and the second one came after a cross from the Portuguese Francisco Conceição into the opponent’s area.
Conceição was already decisive in Juve’s second goal, in the 26th minute, scored by American Timothy Weah.
The 252nd edition of the so-called ‘Italian derby’ is marked by the two penalties scored against Juventus, in the first half, which led to goals from Piotr Zielinski, in the 15th and 37th minutes.
Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan also scored for Inter, in the 35th minute, and Juve’s defense had its worst evening in months.
However, the visitors’ ability to respond was always clear: after Zielinski opened the scoring, in the 15th minute, Vlahovic and Weah turned the result around, in the 20th and 26th minutes.
At frantic pace, Mkhitaryan, at 35, and Zielinski, at 37, put Inter back in front, with the game going into half-time at 3-2.
In the second half, the Dutchman Denzel Dumfries made it 4-2, in the 53rd minute, and the victory seemed good for the Milanese, who could even extend it, thanks to Marcus Thuram.
But ‘Juve’ coach Thiago Motta still had one move to use, which was valuable – the entry of Yildiz, in the 62nd minute.
