Medical Association: “Mockery of the medical staff”

Coronavirus

The Vorarlberg Medical Association has sharply criticized the policy for lifting almost all CoV rules. The very large number of new infections that are accepted as a result are a mockery of the medical staff.

Since Monday, more than 2,000 new CoV cases have been added in Vorarlberg every day. Exactly one year ago, an average of around 40 people per day tested positive for the corona virus. The many new infections are currently at the expense of the medical staff, criticizes the Vorarlberg Medical Association. The criticism relates to two points: the opening steps and the suspension of compulsory vaccination.

The opening steps mean that the many new infections are accepted, says Medical Association President Michael Jonas. Experience has shown that the number of CoV patients in the hospitals only increases two weeks later. “You have to be very optimistic to believe that the hospital will stay like this. It’s a bit of a mockery of doctors, nurses and everyone in the medical field,” says Jonas.

Suspension of compulsory vaccination is “wrong signal”

Because of the omicron sub-variant, however, it is not yet possible to estimate anything precisely, says Jonas. “Now we have a week over. I’m excited to see what’s in the week after next. If nothing happens, we’ll get away with more than a black eye,” Jonas continued.

For Jonas, the suspension of compulsory vaccinations also sends the wrong signal with regard to autumn.
