Successful mayors of big cities like locomotives pulled forward their party members in the parliamentary elections. The leader of GERB, Boyko Borisov, put them at the top of his lists and he was not wrong. He even said that some of them could become ministers in a future government. “DPS – New Beginning” in Kardzhali also nominated a mayor as leader of the list. However, none of them wants to be an MP.
The victory of GERB-SDS in Burgas is convincing – from 26,799 votes in June, Borisov’s party, led in these elections by Mayor Nikolov, won 37,634 votes (28.70%) on October 27. The second ones from “Vazrazhdane” add 1,274 new voters – from 15,259 who voted for them in June to 16,533 now.

Dimitar Nikolov, who, beyond the clichéd slogans, made a pragmatic and meaningful campaign with an eye to the problems of the locals.
Dimitar Nikolov, who was the leader of the GERB-SDS list in the Second MIR, is also the absolute record holder in terms of preferences. He gathered 9,166 votes of personal support, and in general the party gained the trust of 10,835 new voters compared to the elections in June of this year, according to a reference to the RIC data.
Even when he was nominated as the leader of the list, Nikolov explained that he would seek appropriate state support for the Burgas region, whose interests were always in the first place.
I want the voice of the people of the district to be heard through me. The borders between the municipalities are only a formality and if we work in reality and not in words, we will have a strong Burgas region. This three-year spiral of elections has tired everyone.
Municipalities remained the only pillar
for people. The regional projects of Burgas are ready, but they are frozen by the political instabilityNikolov explained in the pre-election meetings.
Now he is adamant that he will continue as mayor of Burgas despite the convincing victory of GERB under his leadership.

In the elections on Sunday in the Stara Zagora region, the GERB-SDS coalition came first, it defeated the second party, “Vazrazhdane”, with a difference of 12,573 votes. 29,656 people voted for the winners, 17,083 for the runners-up. It can be seen that both political forces are now increasing their votes, but for GERB-SDS this increase is more than twice.

Todorov also received a record amount of preferences – 5130. However, he did not top the list with the intention of becoming a deputy and announced it publicly several times before the elections.
This is how he explained to “24 Hours” a few days ago why he still ran for office: I agreed to become a guarantor and lead the list of GERB in the name of the problems of my fellow citizens, so that important projects for Stara Zagora happen. I have no ambitions to become an MP – I was years ago and I know this is not my calling. I am a different type of person, I don’t like to get into pointless arguments and fight with others. So I will go back to my workplace. But standing in front, I asked the leader of GERB to guarantee that several things will happen that are important for the development of Stara Zagora.
The first thing I pointed out is the approach to the Trakia highway, because it is state-owned – the road to the city should be 4 lanes and 4 roundabouts – one at the former airport, one at the village of Zagore, one at the village of Majerito and one at the poultry plant. The second thing I asked for is the repair of the road between Stara and Nova Zagora, which in the Stara Zagora part is now in a terrible state. I asked that the program for the municipalities continue to operate – according to it, this year the municipality of Stara Zagora receives BGN 50 million, and with them we are repairing main streets and entire neighborhoods. With money from this program, in the future we will be able to solve the problems of the fourth-class road network between villages, which is municipal. I also wanted the former airport of Stara Zagora to be transferred to the industrial zone, as well as more money for capital expenditure in state hospitals. I hope that the construction of our new sports hall will also begin this term.
Borisov told me at the end of the meeting: “Okay, I agree.”
Lead the list, let there be a cabinet in which GERB participates, I undertake to make these things happen”. I myself have no personal dividend from my presence in the parliamentary elections. But for me it is extremely important that the state can be a partner of the municipality and do all these projects that have been waiting for years. For 4 years we have been looking at timelessness, and the state must take care of its citizens.

GERB-SDS won the elections in Smolyan region with 100% processed protocols. 12,220 people, or 31.23% of those who reached the polls, voted for GERB-SDS. The leader of the list was the mayor of Smolyan municipality Nikolay Melemov.
The party has increased its result compared to the elections in June – then 9,740, or 27.28%, voted for GERB-SDS.
Even the party opponents consider that the move with the elevation of the mayor of Smolensk was very successful.

As soon as the lists were drawn up, Melemov announced that even if he was elected as a deputy in the 51st National Assembly, he would remain the mayor of Smolyan. Due to the previously announced decision, preferences for Melemov are only 858. Thus, the battle for preferences was actually between the second on the list – Dr. Krasimir Sabev, and the eighth – Todor Batkov Jr.
The anesthesiologist Dr. Krasimir Sabev has the most – 3712. Behind him was Batkov with 2918 preferential votes, who is leading a very active campaign on social media.
The leader of the “DPS – New Beginning” list in Kardzhali, Erol Myumyun, will also resign from the National Assembly and remain mayor of the municipality. This became clear from his statement the night after the election.
