The municipality of Maipú filed a new complaint against former mayor Cathy Barrigadays before its reform scheduled for next November 12, which It focuses on the actions of the former community leader to defund SMAPA and the registration of the name of a municipal program as her own.
These facts were announced by journalist Sergio Jara in the morning With you in the morningwho explained that Barriga applied in the municipality one of the initiatives that she committed to if she were elected mayor, as was the program Woman Strength.
After reaching the municipal seat in Maipú, the former Mekano girl He managed to get the municipal council to approve it to be a public program, receiving an investment of $7 millionwhose amount increased over time.
Jara specified that two years after the municipal government gave Fuerza Mujer approval, in 2019 “he personally signed a trademark registration transfer contract with Maritza Ojeda Hidalgo. The latter, owner of the brand woman strength (…) he sold said trademark to the defendant for an amount of $600.00, which was paid in that same act.”
In this way, Cathy Barriga kept the name of the program as a national person, according to the complaint, which states that “Barriga became the owner until 2028 of the trademark of a municipal program financed with public resources, even though he had expressly declared that Let it be a Municipal Program and I am going to deliver it with your name, I am going to deliver it with your design (…) it remains in time and remains here in the commune”.
Due to this situation, the municipality of Maipú accused the former mayor “for improper use, incompatible negotiation, and conflict of interest, to carry out a campaign program, make it municipal, fill it with money, register it in your name and let that remain until after I leave the municipality.”
Cathy Barriga’s unusual reason for not helping SMAPA
The municipality’s complaint also points to the definancing of SMAPAthe Maipú drinking water and sewage company, since the investments made by Barriga were between 0% and 5%, to which was added the use of its facilities to hold a morning show.
“There are various witnesses who participate in the management of that water plant who have said that the plant faces serious problems because it was not invested,” said Sergio Jara.
Along these lines, he gave as an example what was expressed by one of the testimonies included in the municipality’s complaint, who stated that he spoke with Cathy Barriga “I explained directly to her all the problems the healthcare company was having, but she didn’t like going to SMAP because she found that there were bad vibesand that they had negative forces. “She gave us that answer.”
Thus, the former community leader refused to improve the drinking water and sewage service in the community, with the risk that the Superintendency of Sanitary Services would take away the concession.
“She put at risk the drinking water supply and sewerage of all the people of Maipú who are supplied via SMAPA, she stopped investing to allocate those resources to other ideas that she had brought,” the municipal professional accused.
