Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has begun architectural design for the Smart Hub Complex (logistics center) in the Gochang New Vitality Industrial Complex. Architectural design for the Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Smart Hub Complex (hereinafter referred to as Smart Logistics Center), which will be built in the New Vitality Industrial Complex in Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, has begun in earnest.
According to Gochang-gun on the 25th, the previous day (24th), Samsung Electronics company officials visited the area and had a tea time with County Governor Shim Deok-seop to discuss mutual cooperation plans. In particular, this visit was attended by officials from Muyoung Architects Co., Ltd., which was in charge of designing Samsung Electronics’ Gochang-gun Smart Logistics Center.
Mooyoung Architecture is a leading company in this field that has designed large-scale logistics centers in Korea over the past 10 years, including Bucheon Logistics Park, Daiso Busan Hub Center, Gwangju Opo Logistics Complex, Coupang Daegu Logistics Center, and Incheon Seoknam Logistics Center.
In addition, after carefully examining the problems expected in the administrative process of logistics centers in various parts of the country, it is attracting attention by leading cooperation between businesses, administration, and residents. In this way, it possesses successful architectural design know-how, including developing an eco-friendly high-tech logistics center model and faithfully fulfilling its role as a mediator.
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. will purchase 181,625㎡ (the size of 25 soccer fields) in the Gochang New Vitality Industrial Complex and build a cutting-edge logistics center incorporating automation technology. The total sale price, which reflects the merger construction costs, is approximately 17.3 billion won, and ownership is scheduled to be transferred in November 2024. The logistics center is scheduled to begin construction in 2025 and be completed in 2027. In addition, priority utilization and recruitment of local companies and personnel, such as construction and machinery equipment, will also be discussed during construction.
In addition, when Samsung Electronics’ Smart Logistics Center is fully operational, it is expected to create direct and indirect jobs for about 500 people and have a significant tangible and intangible impact on the local economy, including academia and related industries.
Gochang-gun Mayor Shim Deok-seop said, “It was a meeting place to draw a blueprint for designing a logistics center that would satisfy both companies and citizens.” He added, “I hope that the Gochang-gun logistics center will establish itself as a large-scale logistics center in the Honam region that will take care of smooth logistics and distribution in the southern region in the future.” “I hope,” he said.
Meanwhile, Gochang County Governor Shim Deok-seop visited the ‘2024 Public Stockpile Rice and Dried Rice Purchase Site’ taking place at the Nonghyup warehouse in Sangha-myeon on the 25th to encourage farmers and share opinions on agricultural policy issues.
This year, Gochang-gun’s total rice purchase volume is 10,342 tons, including 8,155 tons of public reserve rice and 2,187 tons of market-isolated grain, of which 1,935 tons of produced rice and 8,407 tons of dried rice. The dried rice volume includes 1,157 tons of powdered rice purchased for the second year following last year, 997 tons of incentive volume for farmers participating in the rice cultivation area reduction agreement, and 1,000 tons of after rice (APTERR, for overseas aid).
For produced rice, we plan to purchase the Shindongjin variety through the local Nonghyup RPC and DSC by the end of November, and for dried rice, we plan to purchase two varieties (Shindongjin and Sugwang) from 21 towns and villages by November 25th.
According to the variety testing system for farmers participating in the purchase of public stockpile rice, approximately 5% of the shipping farms are selected as a sample, samples are collected, and tests are conducted.
As a result, if more than 20% of varieties other than those subject to purchase (Shin Dong-jin, Su-kwang) determined by the government are mixed, the rice will be excluded from the purchase of public reserve rice for 5 years from the following year, so participating farmers must take special care, such as checking the varieties purchased, when participating in purchases.
The purchase price of rice in public reserves is determined by converting the national average rice price in the production area during the harvest season into coarse grain (40 kg). The purchase price is scheduled to be paid at 40,000 won, an intermediate settlement fee of 10,000 won, up 10,000 won from last year, immediately upon purchase to ease the household burden on farmers. The remaining difference will be paid by December 31 after the purchase price is confirmed.
Gochang County Mayor Shim Deok-seop said, “We sincerely thank the farmers for their hard work to produce high-quality rice in difficult rural situations,” and added, “To ensure that the purchase can proceed smoothly, related organizations such as the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service and Nonghyup are working closely together. “We ask you to cooperate and do your best to prevent safety accidents.”
