The president of the Congress, Eduardo Salhuana, considers that the call for possible protests announced by the transport unions during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) 2024, which will be held in the country, is a “mistake”.
“It would be a mistake and an attack on national development”declared the president of the Legislature this morning in front of the media. Likewise, he asked the leaders of these sectors not to influence the normal development of this important event that will bring together heads of state and leaders from 21 Asia-Pacific economies.

“If a mobilization is allowed to take place, it will affect such an important action that will bring benefits to Peru.“, he insisted, remembering that the Parliament received these unions, that it listened to them and that it is working for legislation that corresponds to it.
APEC FORUM HIGHLIGHTS AND NEW PROJECTS
In addition, Salhuana said that the APEC forum will be held in the country in the coming days and in the coming months the new Jorge Chávez international airport and Chancay megaport will be opened.
“Peru can be a case to attract very strong investments. This will create employment, development, agro-exports and more. “We have to focus on that,” he said.
Vacancy offers per head of state
Regarding the announcement of new vacancy offers against the head of state, Salhuana said that parliamentarians are free to raise what they believe is relevant, but “from there to generating a consensus or having the corresponding vote, I seriously doubt it“.
He pointed out that the national representation must emphasize its work in the fight against crime firmly and in economic reactivation.
