(24News) A resolution to ban dance and dance parties in weddings has been presented in the Punjab Assembly.
During the debate on the resolution, Uzma Kardar, a member of the provincial assembly, opposed the resolution on wedding dances and parties and said that do not ban our small pleasures. Going to weddings, we are against banning our children from celebrating their marriages according to Punjabi culture.
Speaker Punjab Assembly said that if DPO calls Mehk Malik, it is called art and culture and poor man is called obscenity. Samiullah Khan said that social evils are prevented by society, unfortunately there is no social pressure group in Pakistan. Yes, redraft this resolution according to socio-cultural norms.
Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan entrusted the committee to amend the resolution on dance and mistreatment of eunuchs and women in marriage ceremonies. Its festivals and family events like marriage etc. reflect its socio-cultural traditions and religious teachings.
The resolution said that in our country, especially in Punjab, it is becoming common to hold dance and server gatherings and broadcast them live on social media. Mujras are organized full of alcohol, but the participants who are intoxicated with alcohol are guilty of very immoral and inhuman acts.
The resolution said that incidents of mistreatment and humiliation of female dancers and transvestites also take place in these festivals, and sometimes incidents of injuring and killing transvestites also come to light, which is a violation of human rights. Violation is against our religious and social traditions.
This House of the Provincial Assembly demands the federal and provincial governments to immediately impose a strict ban on the organization of such obscene gatherings on the occasion of marriage ceremonies, regular legislation should be implemented to prevent such incidents, the punishment of Pakistan. To make Section 294 more effective, it should be amended to regularly prescribe the amount of fine and increase the period of imprisonment, strict legal action should be taken against those who abuse female dancers and prostitutes.
In order to discourage and remedy such heinous incidents, the police and other relevant institutions should be obliged to take immediate notice of such incidents and take disciplinary action.
