The premiere of the play “Chekhov’s Gun” based on the psychological drama of the same name with horror elements, authored by Ilgar Safat, took place at the Azerbaijan State Academic Russian Drama Theater with great success.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Trend, the performance is a deep and multi-layered work that impresses with its psychological complexity and subtle analysis of human nature. This work offers the viewer a deep psychological portrait of a person who seeks to understand his internal strife and free himself from the memories that weigh him down. The production very skillfully creates an atmosphere of tension, gradually revealing the internal conflicts and secrets of the characters. The events of the play unfold in the theater, where the main character of the play (Honored Artist Firdovsi Atakishiev) is a talented director who has been living for many years in a world of ghosts, both literal and metaphorical. He is visited by ghosts in the form of the authors of theatrical productions on which he worked, as well as the spirit of his wife who committed suicide. He complains about the weaknesses and insincerity of the people around him, as well as about the theater, which, in his opinion, has lost its purity and truthfulness, turning into a place of hypocrisy and falsehood.

The climax of the play comes at the moment when the main character, after much psychological debate and awareness of his mistakes, finally finds the strength to get rid of his ghosts. As a result, the hero returns to real life, symbolizing the victory over his inner demons and finding peace of mind.

The performance does not just tell a story, it immerses the viewer in the complex world of human passions, showing how the past inevitably influences the present and future…

People’s artist Lyudmila Dukhovnaya, honored artists Inna Imranova and Elena Spitsina, actors Dilyara Nazarova, Rufat Agaev, Tamerlan Abdullayev, Yaroslav Trifonov, Rashad Aliyarov, Ruslan Pavlov and Farid Bakhramov also shone on the stage this evening. Director-producer and set designer – Ilgar Safat, costume designer – Syamra Akhundova, assistant director – Yulia Limareva.

The audience greeted the creative team with a standing ovation.
